Bean the General

This is a story as told by Alan Blackmon, Aggie Band Commander '90:

Everyone who has been a part the Band knows that we are the most devoted football fans on the campus. My junior year we traveled to Lubbock to play Texas Tech. The Commandant, Gen. Darling, and his wife accompanied the band for the trip. During the game, when Texas Tech scored a touchdown, the Tech cheerleaders threw little plastic footballs into the stands. For some reason they threw one into the Aggie Band. A senior (Kenny Holthouser) caught it, and not desiring to possess such a souvenir, decided to throw it back to the cheerleaders. He stood up and hurled it with all his might - right into the back of Gen. Darlings' head.
